The other school. Unconventional spaces for learning
The times in which studying something meant to acquire the tools for a successful professional life are long gone. The half-life of knowledge got so short that learning became an integral part of any profession.
In The Other School seminar we will investigate a wide range of non-generic spaces for learning, where spatial form is informed by the needs of a specific skillbuilding.
How can strict requirements produce spaces that express quality beyond their functionality?
From the traditional workshop to the Bürolandschaft of contemporary co-working spaces, we aim to build an atlas of different ways of designing the learning space.

Die Zeiten, in denen ein Studium dazu diente, sich das Rüstzeug für ein erfolgreiches Berufsleben anzueignen, sind längst vorbei. Die Halbwertszeit des Wissens ist so kurz geworden, dass Lernen zu einem integralen Bestandteil eines jeden Berufs geworden ist.
In dem Seminar Die andere Schule werden wir ein breites Spektrum an nicht-generischen Lernräumen untersuchen, deren räumliche Form von den Bedürfnissen für den Aufbau einer spezifischen Kompetenz bestimmt wird.
Wie können Anforderungen Räume hervorbringen, die über ihre Funktionalität hinaus Qualität ausdrücken?
Von der traditionellen Werkstatt bis hin zur Bürolandschaft.
